Project Homeless Connect Kansas City Marks 10 Years & Deepens Partnership with reStart Inc.
Organizations team up to expand services and further impact of annual event

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Mar. 4, 2024 — Project Homeless Connect Kansas City (PHCKC) and reStart Inc. announced their partnership on the annual PHCKC event. This collaboration marks a new chapter in providing life-changing care and assistance, all in one day, to those facing homelessness across Kansas City.

The 2024 PHCKC volunteer committee will be co-leading this year’s event, taking place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, with leadership staff from reStart Inc. Together, the organizations will deepen the breadth and depth of services offered at the event.

“As a volunteer-led organization, we are proud of the access to vital care and services we have provided to thousands of Kansas Citians experiencing homelessness over the past 10 years. reStart has been an instrumental partner helping make Project Homeless Connect Kansas City possible from day one,” said Sarah Fustine, co-founder of PHCKC.

According to the 2024 Point-in-Time Count, conducted annually by the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness, the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in Kansas City, Mo. was up 30% year-over-year. This follows a 37% increase the prior year.

“With the number of people in our community navigating homelessness steadily increasing, now is the time to deepen our partnership with reStart for greater impact,” adds Emma Brooke, co-founder of PHCKC.

reStart CEO Stephanie Boyer agrees, “During the course of the day at Project Homeless Connect Kansas City, participants receive care and attention they need and deserve as human beings. In the process, we build trust and bring them one step closer to safe and stable housing. One young woman we met here last year not only has her own apartment, but is also enrolled and finishing her college degree. She is just one example of how life-changing this single day event can be for those who attend.”
