Project Homeless Connect KC Aims to Donate 650 Bras to Help Local Community
Project Homeless Connect KC (PHCKC) has partnered with I Support the Girls KC to host a donation event: Bras for a Cause (see flyer attached) as we highlight October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Basic needs are hard to find for those experiencing homelessness, especially items like undergarments and menstrual hygiene items. A woman shouldn’t have to choose between feeding herself and her personal health. Every woman should have the ability to maintain her dignity.
Project Homeless Connect KC is a free annual event that connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness with the vital resources and care they need to move their lives forward—all on one day and in one place. The 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19 but the volunteer-led group remains committed to helping the community of people experiencing homelessness.
I Support the Girls KC collects and distributes bras, underwear and menstrual hygiene products to local shelters, schools and re-entry programs. Nationally, there has been a 35% increase in requests for their products since March 2020. PHCKC have partnered up with this remarkable organization to create awareness for the needs of our community and we feel it is a critical time to collect these basic needed items. I Support the Girls has agreed that for every bra collected, they will match with two bras, tripling the donation (up to 400 bras). PHCKC’s goal is to donate a total of 650 bras to four local agencies. They invite the community of Kansas City to participate in this collection to help address this major demand.
There are two drive-up collection events to give people the opportunity to drop off new or gently used bras, new packages of underwear (for men, women and children all sizes) and menstrual hygiene products.

Alternative ways to donate include purchasing from the Amazon wish list (contactless) or mailing a donation to Hope Faith Homeless Assistance Campus, c/o PHCKC at 705 Virginia Ave, Kansas City, MO 64105.
